Thayne Jasperson makes top 20 on SYTYCD!!

Posted by jennytpartridge on June 6, 2008

I am feeling mighty sad, because I am going to have a hard time blogging SYTYCD this year, but I am going to give it my best shot. Tonight, they picked the top 20 dancers, and I think there were three or four Utahns in there. But my fave? It’s Thayne Jasperson. I have personally taken a “parents’ class” from Thayne, and he was very kind to us old fat ladies. And my daughter ADORES him. She has had the opportunity to learn from him more than once.

So we are THRILLED to see him in the top 20! GO THAYNE!!

POINTE AND SHOOT

Posted by jennytpartridge on May 5, 2008

The third in the Jenny T. Partridge Dance Mysteries, POINTE AND SHOOT, dances into stores Tuesday!

Keeping readers on their toes!

Studio owner Jenny needs her girls to win the Ultimate Dancer Championship—and the prize money— to expand her business. But first she’’ll have to do some fancy footwork to stay alive.

“Blending the humor of Janet Evanovich with chick-lit quirkiness, Roberts adds sassy prose and a spunky heroine to create a new series to watch.”–Library Journal

If you love dance, love psycho dance moms (as long as they aren’t aiming at you as their next target), and love to laugh, you’ll love Jenny and her crazy world.

Dancing with the Stars…

Posted by jennytpartridge on February 19, 2008

Cele has done a great job recapping Dance Wars, which I never got a chance to watch. See, there’s this job at a certain agency and it requires me to work nights and long hours…. No, it’s not the CIA. I KNOW you were thinking that….Jenny Partridge and the CIA. The two just go hand in hand….

Anyway, the announcement of the next lineup for DWTS was announced, as Cele said.

Actress Marlee Matlin

Magician Penn Jillette

Hairspray stage star Marissa Jaret Winokur

Radio host and actor Adam Carolla

Olympic ice skater Kristi Yamaguchi

Latin heartthrob Crisitian de la Fuente

Tennis star Monica Seles

Singer Mario

Actor Steve Guttenberg

NFL Dolphins Football star Jason Taylor

Actress Shannon Elizabeth

Actress Priscilla Presley

I think this is REALLY cool. The coolest lineup yet. I mean, if Penn Jillette’s partner makes him mad, will he make her disappear (or spurt blood?)? Do ice skating and dance REALLY have that much in common? Can you turn that many times without the aid of a blade and some ice? Can Marlee Matlin (one of my heroes) really hear the music, even though she’s deaf? All in all, it’s going to be great fun to watch.

So how about you? Any thoughts on the new lineup?

Oh, and don’t forget to check out the cover for POINTE AND SHOOT, the third Jenny T. Partridge Dance Mystery, coming out May 6 from Berkley Prime Crime.

Newsletter updates from Natalie M. Roberts

Posted by jennytpartridge on February 5, 2008

Hello all,

It’s been a while since I sent out a newsletter. All my spare time, which isn’t a lot, is going to writing, as I plot my escape to Islamorada. “Huh?” you might ask. “Islamorada?” you might think. “Where and what is that?”

On New Year’s Eve, I was home, writing away, working on THE TIES THAT BIND, a book for St. Martin’s. My children were portioned out to various friends’ houses, and since I’m not big into the party scene, I was using the time to write.

I was also wishing myself far, far, away. Somewhere warm, since Utah has been slammed this year with snow storm after snow storm. Hasn’t everyone wanted to start their life over, somewhere new, at one point or another. Especially when you live in the North Pole and your name AIN’T Santa Claus….

Example:

I took this picture a few weeks ago, and it was just one of MANY storms to hit us. On my computer desktop, I have a weather thingie that tells me what to expect, weather-wise, and also tells me where people are having MUCH MORE FUN than I am. Well, it doesn’t say that, but it might as well. It should just flash THESE PEOPLE ARE SITTING ON THE BEACH DRINKING PINA COLADAS AND YOU AREN’T. Stupid weather thingie. That night, the warmest spot in the United States was Marathon Shores, Florida. Curious, and easily distracted, I wandered off to Google and did a search. I discovered Marathon Shores is in the Florida Keys. I’ve been to Key West ONE time, for a few hours (cruise) and I loved it.

So I spent the next few hou…er, minutes, perusing the pages of the Florida Keys. Islamorada became my hot spot, just because the NAME is so exotic, and of course, the place sounds pretty cool itself.

And I began to weave this story of myself, in Islamorada, escaping from the rigors of life, lounging on the beach.

It’s a dream but hey, it could become reality. Or maybe even a BOOK. That research would be fun!

I know, I know, spring will come soon enough.

On the writing scene,  POINTE AND SHOOT is coming out in May. This is my favorite book in the series, and I think you will like it, too. Jenny grows up a little more, still finds herself in some serious hot water, and discovers that life as a dance teacher is tantamount to working in a loony bin. Or close.

To help you stay warm, here’s a hot cocoa recipe my Mormon mother swears by. She’s a cocoa connoisseur, so this one HAS to be good.

Hot Cocoa

RECIPE INGREDIENTS:

2 cups nonfat dry milk powder
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup powdered nondairy creamer
1/8 teaspoon salt

1. Measure all of the ingredients into a mixing bowl and whisk them until they are evenly blended.
2. Store the mix in a tightly covered container at room temperature until you’re ready to package it. Makes about 4 cups of mix.

Well, that’s all for now, but I wish you all a MUCH WARMER and DRYER winter than we are having. Until next time….

Wednesday’s AYD–Emily ?

Posted by jennytpartridge on January 9, 2008

I don’t know this girl’s last name, or her age, because it wasn’t listed on the video,  but amazing performance. I don’t much care for the costume, but again, AMAZING performance and incredible song.

Don’t love the song, and the choreography could be tighter, but Chelsea Banken is pretty incredible.

This week, we will spotlight amazing promising young dancers!

Posted by jennytpartridge on January 7, 2008

This week, I thought I would spotlight some of the amazing young dancers around the United States, and of course, the world, if anyone is so inclined. Send any suggestions to Jennytpartridge@gmail.com.

Today’s spotlight is Megan Warner. She LOOKS like she is 24. The youtube video says she is 12. If so, amazing. Even if she is older, she’s very good.
