Dancing With The Stars – Season Seven – Week Three – Jive & Viennese Waltz

Posted by ctanglefoot on October 7, 2008

Life has a way of stepping in and taking over.  Life didn’t allow me to blog DWTS for the first two weeks of the season, but I was able to check out a few of the dances, just not enough to blog.

I have noticed a few things. First off Cloris Leachman will be funny to her grave. The woman entertains. Lance Bass is getting short riffed by the judges, and personally I think Brook Burke is getting credit she doesn’t deserve.  So Let’s see how they did this week with the Jive and the Viennese Waltz.

Susan Lucci and Tony Dovalani opened the night with a lack luster Jive.  Don’t get me wrong, Tony sparkled per normal, but Susan absolutely no spark.  No energy to her moves, her kicks were dull, she has no sense of music.  The Judges on the other hand were quite nice with straight 7s for 21 points.

Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer danced a Viennese Waltz. A lovely dance, they’ve been stiffed by the judges and were again tonight, but this performance had lovely lines, great attitude, flowing footwork.  Not that the judges noticed.  8 – 7 – 7 for 22 points.

Maurice Green & Cheryl Burke danced a Jive.  Good energy, good personality, but I wasn’t sold.  Straight 8s from the judges for 24 points.

Rocko Dispirito and Karina Sminoff danced a Viennese Waltz.  I didn’t like the dance, not a lot of waltzing, some flat moments.  The judges gave them 7 – 7 – 6 for 20 on the night.

Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson danced a Viennese waltz that showed a big man can be light and romantic on his feet. Good feet, good shoulders, good rhythm, and great up and down flow.  The judges gave them 9 – 8 – 8 .

Cody Lindley and JulieAnn Hough Jived tonight.  The dance showed good energy, good feet, good legs, and his kicks were lively and sharp.  The guitar thing was a bit much, biting her knees?  The judges scored them straight 7’s for 21 on the night.

Toni Braxton and Alec Mazo took the Viennesed Waltz back to the naughty days of Marie Annoinette.  Weird music, interesting dance and character.  The judges scored them 8 – 7 – 7 for 22 points.

Cloris Leachman and Corky Ballas performed an OHMIGAWD! Jive.  While she may not be able to and she is most assuredly an entertainer through and through.  The  judges gave her 5 – 5 – 5 for a 16.

Brooke Burke and Derrick Hough danced a Viennese Waltz. Lovely.  While I don’t think she’s as good a dancer as they give her credit, tonight she was elegant, lovely and lyrical.  The judges scored her 9 – 10 – 9 for 28 points.

Going home?  I’m thinking Susan Lucci, but we’ll see.

Sith,

Cele
