Dancing With The Stars – Season Seven – Week 5 – 4 Brand New

Posted by ctanglefoot on October 21, 2008

It’s a group of new dances for Dancing With The Stars this week, the pros and the celebs take on the Jitterbug, Salsa, Hustle, and Western Swing.

Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer (a West Coast Swing champion) opened the night with the West Coast Swing. Lacey fell into the trap that several have fallen in before, she carried the load of the dance, when she should have shown off Lance. The dance wasn’t bad, but the judges jumped at the opportunity to down grade them.  Their dance was much better than the straight 7s they were awarded for 21 points.

Toni Braxton and Alec Maso were the second team to take on the West Coast Swing, again, Toni wasn’t the focal point of the dance. She wasn’t challenged, she walked through the dance that was far too slow.  The judges scored them 7 – 7 – 8 for 22 points.

Susan Lucci and Tony Dovolani were the first to perform the Hustle on DWTS. She dances to each step, pauses and waits until she must dance to the next step.  It just didn’t do it for me.  The judges scored them 7 – 7 – 8 for 22 points.

Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson Hustled the dance floor.  Lively, upbeat, he danced through out the whole number.  One or two small movements, but it was a good dance, a good performance.  The judges scored them 8 – 9 – 9 for 25 points.

Cloris Leachman and Corky Ballas took to the floor with the first Salsa of the show and the night.  She danced, not great, but not bad either. The judges scored them straight 7s on the night for 21 points.

Maurice Green and Cheryl Burke delivered a lively, not polished, but good Salsa.  He needs to work on his musicality and finish his movements.  The marks from the judges were far too high, straight 9s for 27 points.

Brooke Burke and Derryk Hough were the first of the sibling rivalry to Jitterbug.  They slammed it, a good dance, high energy (but it lost its momentum at the end) Brooke carried her end of the dance with pizzazz. The judges loved it scoring them 10 – 9 – 10 for 29 on the night.

Cody Lindley and JulieAnn Hough had the final Jitterbug and dance of the night.  In the best spirit of Lucy and Desi they had great fun and energy. The judges were boo’d for their low scores.  The judges scored them 10 – 9 – 9 for 28 points. (Their’s was better, but just barely.)

Well find out who gets the encore, who gets the boot, and who replaces the vacationing Len Goodman tomorrow night during Dancing With The Stars.

Until then,

Sith,
